                 To all things -

                 Just do it!”

COMMENTARY

The relationship of ‘Unconditional Love’ to ‘Logic’ is considered in this short but pithy Aphorism.

Line 1-3:

The Speaker here states that, ‘Unconditional Love’ should be applied to ‘All Things’ - Everything!

HOW DOES ONE DEAL WITH ‘EVIL’ & ‘WICKEDNESS’?

Line 4:

The Answer queries the application of ‘Unconditional Love' to 'All Things,’ claiming - how can this make sense?

The implication is clear - how can one express ‘Unconditional Love’ to Everything?  As anyone who has seriously tried to apply the ‘Principle of Unconditional Love’ will know - you will often wrestle with ‘situations’ and ‘instances’ - such as the ‘Evil’ and / or ‘Wicked Acts’ of individuals - some acts you will say to yourself are ‘unforgivable,’ therefore, how can you apply ‘Unconditional Love’ to Everything?

Line 5:

Without seeking to consider individual examples or instances (for none is given) the Speaker deals with the ‘potential problem’ related above - namely, what do you do about ‘Evil’ and / or ‘Wickedness’? -

The Speaker deals with this issue, by anticipating this matter and removing its central axiom - that of ‘Logic’ - by stating clearly and bluntly - “There is little Logic to Love.”

SOTI TEACHING

‘Unconditional Love’ towards 'All Things' is a centrepiece in SOTI Teaching.  But as anyone who has tried to apply ‘Unconditional Love’ to each and every ‘circumstance’ and ‘event,’ it is more often, easier said than done.  One will often find oneself struggling - for example, the ‘Logic’ of ‘Unconditional Love’ requires one to ‘love one’s enemy.’  How can that be?

LOVING YOUR ENEMY

There are a number of ‘routes’ to Understanding - in attempting to Understand - how one can ‘love their Enemy.’  One approach, which is contained in the SOTI Aphorism - “Love Thy Enemy” is to take the main attribute of an ‘Enemy’ - to its extremist - its most extreme position!

In the Aphorism “Love Thy Enemy” - this ‘position’ is that the enemy seeks the ‘Death and Destruction’ of the ‘Protagonist’ and finds in the pursuit of this end, ‘Death and Destruction’ of the Protagonist, some benefit to the Protagonist / Author.  In this case, the Author muses abstractly, that at that very point of ‘Death and Destruction,’ who shall be there with him, but his enemy? - and that, in this particular instance, he is experiencing a ‘post-samadic state.'

The loving of one’s ‘Enemy,’ can be regarded as an extreme case, but nonetheless, requires an explanation, which is provided in that Aphorism “Love Thy Enemy.”  It therefore follows, that if ‘value’ can be found in this ‘most extreme of circumstances’ - ‘value’ can also be found in the ‘less extreme circumstances.’

Such less extreme circumstances, are for example, expressing ‘Unconditional Love’ in other types of personal relationships among ‘family,’ ‘friends,’ ‘neighbours,’ ‘communities!’ - Thus there should be no reason why ‘communities,’ which once ‘raged against each other’ - should not be able to find a ‘common space-time’ to find and make ‘PEACE.’
