This short Aphorism deals with the subject matter of the nature of 'Indifference,' 'Reverence,' 'Praise' and 'Worship.'

In The Science Of Abstract Consciousness, one can construct a 'standard chart' with the 'essential duality,' 'Indifference' - 'Worship.'  With those 2 elements we can define the concept of 'non-praise' or 'non-worship' - or 'Indifference' and 'Praise' / 'Worship,' represented by the element / term - 'Worship.'

With both elements representing the extremities of a 'Line Of Meaning' (LOM), the line itself becomes a continuum along which at various points, depending upon what System is used - other qualities / values, can be placed.  Thus it is possible to have the following expression as representing a continuous 'Line Of Meaning' (LOM) - 'Indifference,' 'Reverence,' 'Praise' and 'Worship.'

SOTI teaches equanimity / equipoise and therefore the mid-point in any 'Line Of Meaning' (LOM) is always preferable.

Line 1:  "Give 'Thanks' for All..."

In Line 1 the reader is instructed - "Give 'Thanks' for All" - which is a reasonably traditional and ethical approach to 'Thanks,' 'Reverence,' 'Praise' and 'Worship.'  However the matter does not rest here, as the reader is advised again to -

Line 3:  "'Thank' Everything"

This does not take the matter further and is simply a repetition - a reinforcing of a previous instruction and an indication, that especial notice be taken of this instruction.

For 'everything' is 'everything' - and 'everything' is 'all' (see SOTI Collected Works.)

However this clear injunction is immediately undermined -

Line 4:  "But"

Line 5:  "THE COSMOS"

What is 'The Cosmos?' The Science Of The Immortals (SOTI) defines 'The Cosmos' as "The Executive Of Consciousness" (SOTI Collected Works, Oladipo Adegboyega Adelaja) and therefore as such, it is 'The Principle Agent' / 'Representative of Consciousness' - in accordance with 'Universal Law.'  In this capacity, it is the purest macro expression conceivable of Consciousness.

Yet - the reader is instructed not to worship it, creating a paradox / contradiction.  This paradox being in the form of 'clear contradiction' - deepens.  For if 'The Cosmos' is as defined previously - does it not amount to 'all' or 'everything?'  The paradox is clear.  What sense can be made of this?

In giving thanks to 'all' with the exception of 'The Cosmos,' however it is conceived, all that is necessary, has been achieved.  Namely, one should give thanks for all that surrounds one -family,' 'friends' - everything!  Thus there is no need to 'give thanks,' 'reverence,' 'praise' or 'worship' - to any other 'thing,' 'concept' or 'entity.'

Does this mean that "'God' is of no avail?"  - That the 'gods' and 'goddesses' do not stalk the Earth?  and that Lords and Ladies of Universes, Galactic civilisations, do not order The Cosmos? - of course not.

But their power, if real - requires neither 'Praise' or 'Worship.'  In understanding this, we can approach an understanding of the 'Transcendental Principle,' also known as the '101th Event' (SOTI Collected Works, Oladipo Adegboyega Adelaja.)

'THE TRANSCENDENTAL PRINCIPLE'

The Text / Aphorism considers the 'Transcendental Principle,' which when applied allows the Observer to consider multiple perspectives - multi-faceted dimensions of thought - enabling a glimpse of Truth.

The text makes it clear that you should "give thanks to everything but The Cosmos" - the Aphorism allows the reader to 'transcend' fragmented aspects of 'God,' which arise through personal perspectives of what 'God' or 'The Cosmos' means, on an individual level.

Instead, the Aphorism advises - "give thanks to Everything" - in giving thanks to everything as a daily practice, the reader can be assured that s/he is also giving thanks to whoever or whatever entity s/he regards as the 'Godhead,' for example.  If the reader is an Atheist - in giving thanks to everything - s/he still is able to tap into a 'Universal Principle of Natural Order' and reap the benefits of such a Principle.
